Mobile Phones
From the beginning of Term 1 2024, all Queensland state school students must keep their mobile
phones switched off and ‘away for the day’ during school hours. CBSHS is
committed to implementing Education Queensland’s ‘Away for the Day’ mobile phone policy.
Implementation of this policy is to maximise student learning time without distraction.
Students are provided with a YONDR pouch to keep their phone in during the day. This can be unlocked at the end of the day using one of the unlock boxes.
In case of emergency, illness or other
factors relating to a student, CBSHS staff will ensure contact is made and
the necessary arrangements are coordinated.

SRS Fees 2025
The SRS (Student Resource Scheme) helps parents to source resources needed for school, such as textbooks, instruments and other consumables. The school purchases these resources at lower rates due to its bulk buying power and hires these items to students to reduce costs for families. Participating in the SRS also offers a convenient way for parents to source the items that their child needs for school, and ensures that all students have access to the same standard of resources.
The types of resources that will be included are:
- Owned by the student - e.g. student diary – once provided, these items are retained by the student and used at their discretion.
- Hired to the student for a specific duration of time - e.g. textbooks or musical instruments. These items will need to be returned to the school in reasonable condition at the end of the hire period or if the student leaves the school.
- Used in class - e.g. stationery, timber, material, equipment, ingredients, workbooks – these items will be used in class. Finished products that are created from these resources will generally come home with the student.
SRS Fees for 2025 are:
Year 7 - Year 10 $230
Year 11- Year 12 $250
A 'Student Resource Scheme- Participation Agreement Form' is included in each enrolment pack.
