Bus Departure Arrangements
Dear Parents and Carers,
To further improve student safety during afternoon bus departures, we have introduced a new bus boarding process.
Students catching the KANGAROO buses from Isobel Street will be required to:
- Enter the bus waiting area and line up inside the gates at K block behind the number painted on the concrete that corresponds with their bus.
- Wait in their designated line until all buses have arrived and are safely parked.
- Board their bus only when directed by a staff member. Each bus line will be released one at a time to ensure students can board safely and in an orderly manner.
Students who walk home via Isobel Street will be asked to use the gate at the end of the path between M and P block. If they need to pass through the bus loading area, they will be required to wait until the boarding process has been completed.
These changes have been developed to improve the safety of students and to create a more organised and efficient bus departure process. Deputy Principals and additional staff will be present during the initial implementation period to support students as they become familiar with the new arrangements. Updated law on e-bike and e-scooters
A message from the Queensland Governement about updated law on e-bike and e-scooters.
What changed from 1 July?
From 1 July 2026, Queensland Police gained new powers to seize and destroy illegal devices being used in public places. This includes high-powered or modif ied devices, with electric or petrol-powered motors, that do not meet Queensland's legal requirements.
Parents should also be aware that they can be f ined if a child under 16 is caught riding an illegal device.
The laws are aimed at unsafe and illegal devices that have been linked to serious crashes and injuries, rather than
legal e-bikes and e-scooters being used responsibly for transport and recreation.
Is your child's e-bike legal?
A legal e-bike must:
• have pedals as its primary source of power
• have a maximum continuous motor output of 250 watts
• provide pedal-assistance only up to 25km/h
• use an electric motor rather than a petrol-powered engine
• have a compliance label showing it meets the EN 15194 standard.
